All About It 🍀

My Year in 4-H, as an Ambassador

~ By Kh’moni Sutton

This year in 4-H has helped me grow in quiet ways. As a 4-H Ambassador, I had the chance to be more involved and learn how to lead, even when I didn’t feel the most confident. One of the best parts of the year was being in the Healthy Living Culinary Competition with my group, the Florence County Spice Girls. We put in a lot of work and supported each other the whole way. When we won 1st place, I felt really proud of myself and my team. I even received a trophy, and now I get to compete again on a larger level. That moment made me truly happy.

I also spent time volunteering with the Wilson High School Athletics Department. I helped with hydration, and I learned basic wound care.  I attempted to keep the athletes motivated. It wasn’t always easy, but I showed up and did what I could to help.

4-H has taught me a lot about wellness, making better choices, and how to lead in my own way. I helped with a few small activities. Ms. Pressley and my mom continued to encourage me the whole time, even when I didn't really think I wanted to do it. I did, and I'm happy I did. I hope other teens will give 4-H a try—it’s not just about big moments, but about finding your own kind of strength along the way. 🍀
